Home / Uncategorized / Fort Collins Coin Club minutes and meeting notice for Friday, September 1, 2017

The next meeting will be the first Friday in September, 9/1/17, at the Allnutt Funeral Home at 6:00 PM. The auction list will be going out later than usual, so look for it by e-mail around August 30.

We had 39 people in attendance, and the ounce of silver was won by Don P. Sorry Dick V! You missed the membership prize of $25, so it goes to $30.

Treasurer Carl D. reported the club’s cash, details are in the minute book. Carl also reported that deposits were paid for the upcoming December and March coin shows.

President Dan Y. reported on the club’s spiffy new website and thanked Aron L. for setting that up.

Dan also gave his report on the Denver ANA, PCGS grading standards and memorialized everyone’s friend and longtime member Bert B. He will be missed by all.

I hosted another grading contest with 3 coins:

1. An eye candy toned 1876 20 cent piece, graded AU58 by PCGS.
2. A problem free dove grey dirt 1895-S Morgan, PCGS graded VG-10 and verified by CAC.
3. A flashy but several bag marks on the reverse 1926 Saint, graded MS-61 by PCGS. The kind of coin I like, lots of flash, lustre and original color, and too forgiving of ticks and hits.

It was a 3-way tie dead heat at 15 out of 30 points by Bob L., Brian D. and Terry H. Since none of the hit the 95-S Morgan exactly, that was the grade-off coin. Terry H. re-graded it at VG-10, making him the winner. Congrats to Terry and I hope you enjoy your old-time Dansco album as your prize!
