The minutes are being sent out early this time, as there are three updates/items that need to be published now – see below for details.
The next meeting will be on Friday, June 2 at 6:00 pm at the normal location. This meeting will be the elections of the officers for the next year.
Allnutt Funeral Home, 650 West Drake Road, Fort Collins, CO.
I will be hosting another grading contest. You get to examine 3 PCGS “slabbed” coins that have the assigned grades covered up. I have not decided on the coins yet. There are no “details” grades (such as cleaned, whizzed, damaged, etc), the coins all received straight grades. You enter your grades on the entry form before the auction. I will score the forms during the auction and announce the winner after the auction is over. An exact match correct answer as to the letter and number grade gets 10 points, if you are 1 number grade off (say you grade it as a MS 63 and its a MS 62, or XF 45 and its a XF 40), you get 5 points, and if you hit the correct “letter” grade (Proof, uncirculated, AU, XF, VF, Fine, VG, Good, AG or Poor) you get 3 points. The winner gets a prize to be determined, and bragging rights as the “Top Gun Grader”. Last meeting, Brian D. won with a score of 20 out of 30. Honorable mentions to Ken S and Dan Y. Last month’s winner, Dan C. was off his game, but he was only a few points off on all 3 coins.
The coins were:
1909 S / Horizontal S Lincoln Cent, PCGS VF-35 and grade verified by CAC
1921 Peach Dollar, PCGS MS-64, heavy toning
1892 Columbian Half Dollar, PSCG MS-64 verified by CAC

Minutes of the May 5, 2017 meeting:
President Dan Y. announced that their are no new nominees for annual election of officers will be held at the June 2 meeting. All of the people in the current positions are willing to serve for another one year term. The current officers are:
President – Dan Y.
Vice President – Ken S.
Treasurer – Carl D.
Secretary – John B.
Treasurer’s report read and details are available from Carl D.
President Dan Y. reported that we have 11 ANA members that signed the Coin Club affiliation roster, giving us a 2 year discount on the club ANA dues.
We had 30 members in attendance. The ounce of silver attendance prize was won by Greg W. and the $30 membership prize was not won, so that goes to $35.

We had Steve D. from the Colorado Springs Coin Club as out guest. Steve is requesting volunteers at the ANA Convention in Denver on August 1-5 to be numismatic ambassadors. Ambassadors help people find the activities at the convention – no real experience or coin skills are needed – just a friendly attitude. Anyone volunteering for 4 hours or more gets the very pricey “Early Bird” entry pass for the coin show. That application form is attached, and it needs to be soon!
Also, paging opportunities are available for young numismatists ages 13-22. They can get cash tips!
And, if anyone knows of any Boy or Girl Scout Troops, there is a free coin collecting merit badge opportunity as the convention as well.
