Fort Collins Coin Club Minutes and Meeting Notice – Friday, February 2

It's been sneakin' up on you, but the next Fort Collins Coin Club meeting will be the first Friday in February, the 2nd, at or normal venue, the Allnutt Funeral Home meeting room.  Door open at 6:00 pm for snacks, refreshments, coin talk and stories, followed by the regular meeting and auction (list attached). Minutes from January 5: We had 38 people in attendance, and one new member, Ross M.  Welcome! The ounce of silver attendance prize was won by Eva, and Tom V. won the membership prize of $20. Merry Christmas to all!  I hope you all stay safe over the holidays and that Santa was good to you! So, put down the eggnog, cookies and refreshments, and mark your calendar for our 1st regular meeting of 2018: Friday, January 5 at 6:00 PM at our normal location, Allnutt Funeral Home at 600 W. Drake, Ft. Collins. We had a very active club coin show on December 2, with several positive reports from the 25 dealers.  All 32 tables were sold out.  Thanks to bourse chairman Jim O! Fort Collins Coin Club – December reminders and minutes

This is December - well, almost.  That means two big things for us coin geeks: #1.  The first thing is that our coin club December coin show is on Saturday, December 2 at the Lincoln Center in Fort Collins.  It's on Saturday only. #2.  The Christmas Party.  The date is Friday, December 8 (which technically is the second Friday in December)   Same place as last year - the Fort Collins VFW at 603 Lesser DR, Fort Collins.   Food is catered in and  served at 6:00 pm, and if you can, bring a dessert to pass.  Bring your spouses, significant others and kids.  It's a very family friendly event with dinner, followed by Bingo for coin prizes. #3.  So remember, no club meeting or activity on Friday December 1. I will be hosting another grading contest.  You get to examine 3 PCGS "slabbed" coins that have the assigned grades covered up.  I have not decided on the coins yet.   There are no "details" grades (such as cleaned, whizzed, damaged, etc), the coins all received straight grades.  You enter your grades on the entry form before the auction.  I will score the forms during the auction and announce the winner…

I will be hosting another grading contest.  You get to examine 3 PCGS "slabbed" coins that have the assigned grades covered up.  They are a circulated Lincoln Cent, a 1921 Peace Dollar and a Columbian Commemorative Half Dollar.  There are no "details" grades (such as cleaned, whizzed, damaged, etc), the coins all received straight grades.  You enter your grades on the entry form before the auction.  I will score the forms during the auction and announce the winner after the auction is over.  An exact match correct answer as to the letter and number grade gets 10 points, if you are 1 number grade off (say you grade it…
